This distinguished clerical robe is crafted with reverence, combining traditional ecclesiastical symbolism with a solemn, elegant design suitable for high services, formal liturgies, and ceremonial occasions.

Base Fabric and Structure

The primary body of the robe is fashioned from a high-quality light grey fabric, selected for both its durability and its refined drape. The robe features a classic full-length silhouette, flowing gracefully to the shin, with a modest A-line cut that allows ease of movement while maintaining a dignified form.

The grey tone reflects humility and neutrality, providing a subdued canvas for the more opulent accents that define the robe’s significance.

Sleeves and Collar

The sleeves are slightly flared at the cuffs, adding a soft, traditional flourish. The collar is a high, standing style, also covered in black velvet, evoking a solemn, monastic aesthetic.

Velvet Panels with Gold Patterning

Prominently adorning the front of the robe are two wide, vertical black velvet panels that extend from the shoulders to the hem, framing the front opening (or worn over a concealed zip or button placket). These velvet panels are intricately embroidered with a baroque gold thread pattern—interwoven vine scrolls, fleur-de-lis, and ecclesiastical symbols such as small crosses and stylised wheat sheaves—signifying abundance, faith, and spiritual growth.

The embroidery is done in a rich metallic gold thread, which catches the light subtly, never garish but always stately.

Central Cross Emblem

At the centre of the chest, sewn over the joining point of the velvet panels, is a bold, embroidered gold cross. The cross is about 4–5 inches in height, stitched with raised satin embroidery to give it a slight three-dimensional effect. The cross may be styled in either the Latin or Celtic form, depending on denomination preference, but in both cases, it stands as the visual focal point of the garment—symbolising devotion, authority, and the wearer’s clerical role.

The gold used here is slightly deeper in tone than the surrounding embroidery, giving it added distinction without overwhelming the ensemble.

Back Design

The back of the robe remains largely grey, with a single sleek triangle finish of black velvet running to the top of the back along side the gold pattern.
